The Parliament’s cardinal roles are legislation, passing the budget and watchdog, and as the implementation of the NRM manifesto which is subject to the five-year National Development Plan 2016-2021, national budgets have to be passed every financial year.

On October 9th 2019, we shall be in Sironko Distract, Bugisu sub-region, Eastern Uganda, celebrating 57th anniversary of our national independence with the theme, “Consolidation of national unity, security, freedom, and prosperity.”

In 1976, there was a lot of tension when the then President of Uganda Idi Amin resumed his usual territorial claims. This time he wanted to reclaim Rift Valley, Western and Nyanza provinces which were once parts of Uganda Protectorate.

There has been a mixed reaction on the President’s state of the nation address. Some people like myself welcomed it because it was timely and focused on issues of national importance, while others are complaining that it was too brief and wanting on security and foreign relations.
